Backyard Rainbow Layer Chicks for Sale – Colourful, Hardy, and Fun for the Backyard!

Want to enjoy a basket full of colourful eggs in the future? Our young, unsexed Backyard Rainbow Layer chicks are the perfect way to start! With parentage including Cream Legbar, Araucana, Marans, Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, Light Sussex, Frizzles, and sometimes some Appenzeller influence, these chicks grow into lively, hardy hens that produce eggs in shades of blue, green, olive, cream, and brown.

We currently have young unsexed chicks for sale, available from day-old up to around 3 weeks of age.

What You Need to Know

• Unsexed Chicks: Sold as-is, with gender becoming more obvious as they grow (usually between 6–12 weeks you can begin to tell hens from cockerels). Buyers must plan ahead for roosters, as we are unable to take them back.

• Brooder and Heat Required: All chicks under 6 weeks of age need a warm, secure brooder with a heat source. Chicks are usually fully feathered and more independent by around 6 weeks of age and able to go outside.

• Chickens Need Friends: We recommend purchasing at least three chicks so they can grow together and develop properly as a flock.

• Pickup or Transport: Pickup is available most days, or you are welcome to arrange your own transport (please see our terms and conditions).

These chicks are an ideal choice for families, backyard keepers, or anyone wanting a unique and colourful egg basket down the track. With each bird being a little different in looks and personality, they make for a lively and rewarding flock.
